We finally took a much-needed vacation to DisneyWorld for our 23rd anniversary last week. No, it's not a milestone anniversary, but it's been a hell of a year with losing Dad, Rick losing 2 friends, my 8 month struggle with a torn tendon in my foot and then an ulcer, and then the car accident on May 1 (I literally got the car out of the shop two days before we left for the trip). Add to that the general COVID lockdown madness, an instant transition working from home to returning to the office, and all of the other adjustments that the past year has demanded and - yes, we needed a vacation. We're fully vaccinated, our families are fully vaccinated, and we've pretty much been forced back out into the world to full capacity. We might as well do something WE want to do, and so we did. We went to DisneyWorld!
Thankfully, the Lord blessed us and our luck changed to all good for the week. We had safe travels and a wonderful vacation. All worked out perfectly well, and it was a great week. But it was also good to come back home to Zack and Bubbles. I remember once that somebody told me that vacations give you appreciation both ways: you get out of your rut to see something different, but you also come back and appreciate home more. That's certainly true. This trip was just what we both needed.
Now we're unpacked and settling back into the routine. It's back to work tomorrow, and our busiest time of year. Fortunately, I got a round of rewrites completed on The Sentience Series a couple of weeks ago. so I can use the busy season to work on short stories again, which I really need to do. It's been a while on that front, and I'd like to keep making progress in that area. I'll return to working on The Sentience Series in July after work settles down, and possibly start another cross stitch project once that's done.

So it's back to work and back to reality for me this week. But that's ok - it was totally worth it. Everybody needs a break from time to time, and my time finally came, thank the Lord.
