Grammarly. This is required for my book reviews, and it didn't take me long to see why. Writers still need readers to fine-tune their work, but this AI assistant can drastically improve your writing. I like it so much that I installed it on my SurfacePro. I love this app. And given how the "Grammar Nazis" like to attack writers, I think they should too. Grammarly has a free extension and a paid upgrade. I use the free now, and it's great.
Meditation. I've tried this several times over the years and finally found success when I got the Bodi app for my health and workouts as a "gift to myself" in 2022. Meditation really is helpful to bring consonance in your life. It isn't about silencing your inner voice but learning focus and proper thinking patterns to hear it correctly and channel your energy properly. I not only feel better but have had some excellent writing inspirations during meditation sessions. Better yet, you can do it anytime, anywhere. There are several apps, programs, and books available to help you get started. It requires patience and practice, but it's well worth it.
PlutoTV. Get this app if you have a SmartTV. If not, check it out online. This is a free app that has tons of channels for a variety of interests. I'm partial to the Star Trek More Channel (where they play Deep Space Nine and Voyager) and Inkmaster. It's not new stuff, but there's plenty to watch, especially if you like retro TV. And if you want to dump cable and/or satellite, hook a Mohu Leaf Antenna to your SmartTV. It not only gives you free local stations, but Roku will add more free digital channels to give you more watching options.
The Public Library. I've extolled the virtues of public libraries many times, and want to repeat it here because a good public library system has valuable resources for free. It's not just books! You can check out magazines, DVDs, and audiobooks, and have access to free apps like Hoopla and Libby to check out materials. Our public library branch even holds their newspapers for recycling for us bird owners for cage cleanings (since our newspapers are going mostly online and the subscriptions are rising in cost so much that barely anybody gets it anymore). There are many programs and services available, too. Seriously, get a library card. Your taxes have already been paid for it. You might as well get something back for it. This might be the only place where you can get so much for free.
Inflation has us looking for ways to get more for less. Take a look around and you might be surprised at what you've already got that can positively impact your life and daily routines.
That's all today. Take care, and have a great week.
Bye!
