Personally, I teeter between the two. I enjoy the holidays, but usually it is nice to get them behind us and to get back to a routine. Then again, it was also nice to be off work, and getting back to the alarm clock blaring at 6 AM and up and at em' grind after a nice, long break is tough. Back to reality is never easy. And it will be especially tough this year, as I took 2 weeks off for Christmas. I know facing Monday morning isn't going to be easy! But I shall, as I do every year.
Still, it is nice to start a new year. Routine is good, and having a clean slate to start over and resolve to do better is nice. That resolve is tested quickly enough, but isn't that the way of life? So far, I'm off to a good start. I started a new Bible reading routine and started writing a new novel on January 1. I have no doubt that I'll make good on those projects - it's all things I've done before and I'm doing them again because I like it - but I know the real test is yet to come. Excitement fuels the start, but it's keeping things going when the excitement wears off. When you oversleep, or are tired from work and housekeeping, or the unexpected phone call or email shatters your perfectly planned schedule - that's when it comes down to it. I know the challenges are just waiting in the wings and it's not so much about sticking to resolutions as it is to stand to the everyday bumps and bruises of life. We'll see how it goes.
Well, whether you face the new year with eww or enthusiasm, it's upon us, so let's make it the best it can be, one day at a time.
That's all today. Happy New Year, Happy Friday, and have a great weekend.
Bye!
