This week, I'm doing a housecleaning blitz. We do a good job of keeping the house cleaned up and picked up, but every once in a while, it needs a scrub down. It will get it this week. Best to do it in the fall when I'm not slammed to the mat busy, right? And speaking of which, I've already started my Christmas shopping, albeit slowly. I made a list a couple of weeks ago of all the gifts we need to get and was astonished to find that we buy gifts for 35 people for Christmas. 35! Between that and our peak workload coming in at my job due to a December 16th application deadline, it's no wonder I was so stressed in December! It's a lot more than I realized. So I've been picking up gift cards here and small gifts for friends and co-workers there over the past couple of weeks.
I know it sounds like I'm way ahead of myself, but the truth is that I'm trying to take advantage of the lull. Last year was a nightmare of stress, and I didn't enjoy the holidays at all. I learned the hard way that advance prep is absolutely necessary, and I'm trying to take the way of wisdom this year. Especially considering that I have a book coming out on November 1st that will also need promotion throughout the holidays! So the big housecleaning happens now, while I have time to scrub down and clean out, so it's routine maintenance from here on out. And if picking up a few things here and there cuts back on the shopping list come December, all the better.
And God willing, I might actually be able to participate in National Novel Writing Month again one year. Not this year, of course. I'll be promoting the publication of the book I wrote for that challenge in 2010, and I'm blissfully happy over that. But one day, I sure would like to participate in it again.
But it's not all work! We do pace ourselves, and last night we both embarked on new adventures. Rick set up his channel on YouTube, and added several cute videos of the birds! It's Rick Moorer, and I encourage you to go check it out, subscribe, and like the videos if they bring you a smile. That is, after all, the point! I also checked out Pinterest. I'm not quite sure what I think of it yet, or if I'll be very active on it, but I did log in through Facebook and take a look. Time will tell if I stick with it or not
So life is slow, and I'm taking full advantage of it. I hope I'm showing some wisdom in this. I sure need more of that in my life!
That's all today. Take care and have a great week.
Bye!
