It really is. Remember all of that talk about “new normal” a couple of years ago? Yea, how’s that going? If you’re like me, then you’ve probably decided that the phrase “new year, new you” is the biggest lie around. It’s easy to keep those resolutions in the early days, when you’re off work and insulated from reality. These past two weeks have been the real test to stick with them after spending all day fighting the same old shenanigans that you always see.
It takes a special kind of determination to stand by it. Perhaps it also requires a level of frustration with the ‘same old, same old’ to keep up the energy to fight against the patterns holding you down. I’m ready to rise and find better days after the chaos and madness of the past couple of years. Perhaps I’ve worked through the acceptance phase of grief, and that spunk is coming back. If that’s the case, then I say welcome back, my old friend. It’s about time I saw you again!
Not that the paradigm shifts and lessons from tragedy are lost. Heavens no, there’s no substitute for wisdom. But wisdom needs to be supplemented with confidence and personality in my authentic self. As I said before, it may be a new season of life, but I’ve been surprised by the joy of finding that some of those old pieces fit. I stand by my resolution to find myself in putting them all back together again. And I will do it if I have to trample over the stunts of 2022!
Of course, my first venture was to return to writing. The rewrites and revisions to the remaining novels of The Sentience Series and Broken Time are done. I started on these right after Christmas, and recently finished this stage. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Broken Time wasn’t as broken as I thought. It has merit, and is a solid sci-fi novel. Now I’ve moved on to a new idea of a Christmas/Sci-fi novel. I’m doing research and have written a few chapters, and am excited to do something just a bit different. I’ve written a few Christmas short stories, but never a novel. This will be interesting. No small town romance here: the protagonists gift to the world will be trying to save it. Actually, all that’s made it a Christmas story so far is that it takes place at Christmas. And coming up with a title is more of a challenge, as I want something that references the holiday without sounding cliché or hokey. Mix that with sci-fi, and coming up with a title might be my biggest challenge for this one. I’m enjoying this project.
I’m also continuing with the workouts and trying out meditation. It was probably past time for me to make a change in those areas. I pretty much plateaued out on my last workout routine, so it’s refreshing to try new things now. I haven’t settled on a particular one yet, but the open options are keeping me motivated to do those workouts and meditations every day.
Take that, 2022.
No good deed goes unpunished, and the devil is hard at work to derail me. All you can do is pray, study The Bible, and keep doing your best. Those are probably the biggest parts of my daily routine.
If you find keeping those resolutions difficult or your frustrated with the new year already, take heart. 2022 hasn’t started well, but it’s still early days, and we’re still standing. Resistance is NOT futile! Don’t let another year take control of you. People talk about "knowing your place." Let me tell you where that is: confident, joyful, fulfilled, and in control of your life! Join me, and let’s fight back for a better life now.
That’s all today. Take care, and have a great week.
Bye!
