I think I may be in over my head.
That's a heck of a realization now, isn't it? I've come this far with home construction and writing projects and now I say oops, I may be in a bit too much here.
I think this is a classic "straw that broke the camel's back" scenario, with the leak being that straw. Worst of all, I'm certain this is an over-reaction. That's the problem with having a bachelor's degree in psychology - you know what's wrong, and can't believe your own excuses. The plumber even told me that if we shut off the water to the toilet, then we'll be ok until he can get here Monday, and not to worry. But it's just that thing that I have to schedule a repairman and take off work - which will probably work out for the best as it will probably turn into more writing time! Well and fine. But this meeting in a couple of weeks keeps getting bigger and bigger, and somewhere in there I realized that I have four novels in progress right now and that might be a bit more than I should be doing right now.
Welcome to the life of a writer.
The truth is that three of my novels are scifi, and as it turns out, they're pretty intense and deep. It isn't just writing work that goes into it - there's a lot of mental energy involved in it as well. This is heavy stuff. And while I love it, I think two months of scifi have stretched the brain and, in combination with a busy work season, made me ready for some less intense stuff. I already have a couple of mystery novels I plan to read once this round of writing is done. And now, that's motivating me to keep moving forward. That, and wanting to get this writing done before Game of Thrones and that ever-expanding meeting come around in the next 1-2 weeks. And getting that leak fixed ASAP, because leaks, even minor ones, are never good.
This just goes to show how important self-awareness is, and remembering to pray about everything. It's best to ask the Lord for help before that straw breaks you. You'd think I'd get that by now. Maybe someday, right? For today, I think its time for a TV and drink break. And remember - winter is coming in T-minus 1 week on HBO. In case you didn't notice, I'm a HUGE Game of Thrones fan. Best show ever!
That's all today. Take care. Have a great rest of the weekend and a good start to the new week.
Bye!
