I get it. We got hit with a flu outbreak last year that took Rick down for Thanksgiving and knocked me out a week later. It was one of those that nothing helped with, either. Flu shot or not, there was no alleviating those symptoms. I had no choice but to drop out for three days. Mostly because my doctor ordered me to stay home and not spread my filth – not like I could have gotten up anyway.
I know you can’t afford to be sick right now, which is exactly why you probably are. When you run at light speed, eventually you run out. Our energy is limited and if we get too distracted to tend it willingly, then our bodies have a way of make us doing it unwillingly. Sometimes, life doesn’t ask us if we want a break from life. It orders us to do so. Take it from a girl that just had an unintentional 6 week “slow down” for a broken foot. You do yourself justice when you take the hint and take it easy.
If you’re sick now, take the hint. Slow down and take care of yourself. Take your medicine. Rest more. Drink fluids and eat better. Pushing yourself forward when you’re sick is self sabotage. Your body has a remarkable capability to heal, but you have to listen to the Spirit speaking within you and nurture yourself for this miracle to happen.
If you’re lucky enough to not be sick, then still be mindful. Don’t run yourself ragged: eat right, exercise, get enough sleep, take your maintenance medications, balance your schedule, wash your hands frequently, and take Vitamin C every day. Yes, this really works. I scoffed at it for many years, then I recently learned that people working in education and medical field don’t swear by it for nothing. Give it a try. It really works at boosting your immune system, but remember that it’s one part of the process. You have to do all of the above for it to work best. Funny how things work together that way.
Above all else, don’t beat yourself up. If you’ve fallen ill or feel bad, deal with it, learn the lesson, and move on. Wisdom is gained from experience.
Here’s hoping you feel better soon if you’re down, and that you keep feeling good if you aren’t. Take care, and have a great week.
Bye!
