I finished the rough draft of Broken Time this morning. It's definitely time to celebrate! I've been working on this novel about a physicist whose research causes the Apocalypse since mid-June. It was more complicated than I expected, and required a ton of research even up to writing the final chapters today. But by golly, it's written. It no doubt needs several rewrites, revisions, and extensive editing - but it's out of my head and on my hard drive (and back up drives) now.
If I ever decide to write another novel that involves manipulating time - you know, I'll do it anyway. You won't be able to stop me. I'm a scifi writer. Complex ideas are what we do.
I also launched a new Parrot Pals series at Conure Corner earlier this week. It's great to have that humor break that brings Zack and Bubbles into my writing world. Plus, sometimes it is hard to find things to blog about, so turning to fiction and doing a silly story instead is always good and fun. I'm excited to see how this series progresses.
As for the follow up to my last entry, I'm obviously doing much better since I'm fully into writing again. I did have another reason for not updating the blog last week - August 26 was my birthday, so I took some time off work and decided to celebrate. I didn't get to do that last year, so it was good to be able to this year. Nothing major, but it was good to have some time at home and to go out and about a bit to break the norm. Obviously, the break inspired me to push through to finish my novel and start another short story series, so I'd say it was just what I needed.
Life rolls on, and I'm appreciating it. I hope you have a Happy Friday tomorrow and a wonderful Labor Day weekend. Stay safe out there.
